User handling

02 July, 2009

I'm about to upload the code adjustments with user registration etc. I've tried to keep this simple but effective, so we'll just have to see how it goes. Once registered a new user gets an email with a link where they will have to fill out some info before they can post. It works locally okay so this will be the live test.

I've all but given up on trying to stop a blank screen coming up during wrong names and titles on a post. It's beyond me. Everythig works okay, just that I tried slamming in titles and users that were not registered and got a blank screen, so I guess in a way it's effective. Sort of. 'Ish.

So far, so good

01 July, 2009

It's been about a month since I began this in earnest. At least a week of that has seen me down with a bad back, so I've not done too badly here. Most of the time has been spent on user authentication (with minor forays into a few layout tweaks).

The work being done will end up a single forum. Once that is running well and any other bugs found are sorted, then I can begin on the multiple forum version. I've decided to have 2 downloads on my site for this, as there are those who only want (or would use) a single forum.

The weight is still under 150k, so that side of things is working out good also. When I have finally sorted out the user stuff, I want to get my admin redone. It has some bugs in and always has had, since Dan's original version, so there's a lot of work to be on there. Plus it now has to handle user management as well. Certainly some aspects of what I've done with OpuScribo will be applied here, like the way variable settings are handled and the stylesheet.
